San Diego Safari - July 24, 2008

Today I went to the continents of South America, Asia and Africa, and saw some amazing animals! First I met with some friends, and when they left, I ventured through the jungles of Asia, the savannas of Africa and the mountainous regions of South America with my camera. Luckily all the animals were out, even the pandas! I love the San Diego Zoo! They must have known I was in the neighborhood because they posed like models strutting the runway at a Mercedes-Benz Fashion Show! If I had eyelashes like a guanaco I'd be working the camera too!

Miso the destroyer

Every time I check on my dog, Miso, she is passed out in the backyard. So when I find flowers that have been uprooted, demolished drain covers or missing sprinkler heads, I wonder if she is just pretending to sleep.

Since Miso is the subject of this entry I thought I'd post some of my favorite pictures of her. I only have 800 to choose from!

Awwww! It's our little wolf pup.

Clearly she was digging before I took this one.

Her first trip to the snow. They were meant for each other, but we are not moving to Colorado any time soon.

Del Mar Races Opening Day July 16, 2008

I know it's been a while since my last post so I'll be making up for it over the next couple days.

I finally made it to opening day at the Del Mar Races! The only downfall was that I couldn't be there with my husband since he works on the other side of the world right now. But that's when my favorite sister came to the rescue! She also happens to be my only sister.

Me + hat + camera = what you see below. I had a little fun before I retired my outfit for the night.

A proposal that will make your heart skip a beat!

After five months, 2,663 miles, six ecozones, hot desert temperatures, damp rain forests, below freezing weather and volcanic Cascades, Joe proposed to Han-Mei on the Pacific Crest Trail.

Han-Mei's answer was, "Yes."

Stories like this deserve to go down in history. It exhibits strong morale, courage, strength, determination and love, of which resemble monumental peaks in the formation of our culture. So where would our world be without stories?

Han-Mei and I first met our freshman year at Poway High School and when she asked me to shoot her post wedding portraits, my happiness for her soared like the birds flying by my window. I've seen her once since we parted ways after high school so I am looking forward to her photo shoot and meeting the man who puts that giddy smile on her face.

To Han-Mei, Joe and the anonymous photographer, thank you for the pictures!

Grace is a year old - July 1st

Grace Christina announced her arrival on May 31, 2007 and she didn't stop there. Now she's got teeth and walking feet. But don't underestimate her size because her personality could move mountains. So look out world, little miss sassy doesn't slow down for anyone!

If you think the cuteness stops here; you're wrong. Stay tuned for the next couple weeks because Grace's best friend Zoe will debut on the blog, and there will be some shots of them together. Hopefully the blog will sustain these two personalities because it's gonna get crowded here!

On a jet plane to Singapore

Today the day sang happy notes and sad notes. I was blessed to spend the day with my husband, but it ended as we both departed LAX alone. I drove home to San Diego and Brian left on a jet plane to Singapore. As I entered the 15 South ramp the song Damaged by Danity Kane burst through my speakers while I unleashed the volume. I rocked out while the music bumped and then the end of the song caught my attention, "Sometimes you gotta go through the pain to experience the joy. This too shall pass." When I see Brian in three months the torture of separation will melt away and we can celebrate how blessed we are to have each other.

We don't have too many pictures of us since our wedding two years ago, mainly because we had the best photographers in San Diego shoot our wedding, so here are a few shots from that day. We just celebrated our two year anniversary! Bauman Photographers rocks!
